Niger Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Six Victims and Recover ₦1.045m
The Niger State Police Command says it has arrested two suspects in connection with a kidnapping operation in Mashegu Local Government Area. Six victims were rescued during a joint operation involving security personnel and local vigilantes in the Tanangi village forest area. Police said officers recovered ₦1,045,200 believed to be part of ransom collected by the gang. Other items recovered included 10 Android phones said to belong to victims, five keypad phones, two empty AK-47 magazines, a NIN slip and a bag. The suspects allegedly confessed to taking part in the kidnapping of 10 people along the Tegina–Makera Road, where the gang reportedly collected ₦14 million in ransom. Police said other alleged gang members remain at large, while the two suspects are being investigated ahead of prosecution.
