Bandits Kill Galla Village Head in Niger Palace Attack
Suspected bandits have reportedly killed the Village Head of Galla in Borgu Emirate, Niger State, after attacking his palace on Monday, August 24, 2026. Sources said the traditional ruler had warned the attackers to stay away from his community. The bandits allegedly viewed the warning as an insult and later returned to attack him. The deceased was a brother of the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi. Police in Niger State had not issued an official statement at the time of the report. The killing has renewed concern over worsening banditry and other security threats in parts of Borgu Emirate.
