Why I Worry About the Power and Influence of Billionaires
This is strictly my opinion. I do not wish harm on any billionaire, but I worry that extreme wealth can weaken competition and leave society poorer. When a few companies dominate an industry, smaller businesses may struggle to survive or innovate. For example, I think it would be unhealthy if one company controlled the entire car market or if only a few platforms shaped how people find information online. I also believe many large companies put profit first. Workers can be laid off to cut costs or replaced with new technology, even after years of loyalty. In some cases, companies later discover that the technology cannot fully replace experienced staff. Finally, I feel billionaires often give money through charities, foundations and trusts that have strict requirements. Ordinary people may find it easier to get direct support from neighbours than from wealthy individuals. I also question why some rich people seek ways to reduce their tax burden while benefiting from public services.
