EFCC Witness Says Finance Ministry Had No Record of N124.86bn CBN Withdrawal
An Economic and Financial Crimes Commission witness told an FCT High Court that the Federal Ministry of Finance had no record of the N124.86 billion allegedly withdrawn from the Consolidated Revenue Account during Godwin Emefiele’s tenure as CBN governor. Ali Mohammed, a director in the ministry, said an inquiry from the presidential investigator probing the CBN prompted him to consult the three divisions under the Home Finance Unit. He said none had any prior record or knowledge of the transaction. Mohammed added that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation also reported having no record of the withdrawal. The documents were admitted as exhibits, and the defence is expected to cross-examine the witness when the trial resumes on October 7.
