Youth Leader Dies After Bayelsa Land Dispute Turns Violent

A 29-year-old man, Tari, popularly known as Heavyweight, has died after allegedly sustaining machete injuries during a clash between rival youth groups in Diema community, Brass LGA, Bayelsa State. The dispute reportedly began during an inspection of land said to have been earmarked for a crude-oil tank farm. Sources said the factions were loyal to rival traditional rulers in the community. Tari was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Bayelsa Police said calm has been restored in the area and that an investigation is ongoing.
