FG Announces ₦250m Support for Families of 37 Men Who Died in NSCDC Custody
The Federal Government has announced a ₦250 million support package for the families of 37 men who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State. Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the intervention during a condolence visit. He said the deaths were a national concern and stressed that people in state custody remain entitled to protection, regardless of any allegations against them. Shettima said the families deserve justice and clear answers on the circumstances of the deaths. Governor Umaru Bago said Niger State would cooperate with the investigation and called for safer, legal economic opportunities for young people.
