UN Warns Sudan War Is Becoming More Dangerous for Civilians
The United Nations says Sudan’s war is becoming more dangerous for civilians as drone attacks, insecurity and restrictions on civil liberties spread across the country. A UN fact-finding mission said El Obeid in North Kordofan remains partly surrounded by the Rapid Support Forces. It reported that attacks have killed and injured civilians, damaged schools and displacement sites, and disrupted healthcare, electricity and water supplies. The mission also raised concerns about arbitrary arrests, detention, torture and alleged sexual violence against detainees. It urged all sides to protect civilians, allow humanitarian access and halt abuses as the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF continues.
