Former UFC Fighter Tim Kennedy Shot in DR Congo Security Ambush
Former UFC fighter and US Army Special Forces veteran Tim Kennedy was reportedly shot three times in the leg during an ambush in the Democratic Republic of the Congo while on a private security assignment. The attack reportedly took place in mid-September and left 20 people dead or injured, including seven fatalities. Kennedy returned to the United States and is receiving treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Kennedy was working with Vectus Global, a security and logistics company contracted to protect mining operations in the country. The Congolese government reportedly suspects Rwandan-backed rebel forces may have carried out the ambush, though the circumstances remain unclear.
