Mob Lynches Woman Accused of Making Men’s Genitals Disappear
A 46-year-old woman, Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe, was killed by a mob in Kalumbila District, Zambia, on March 20, 2026. The crowd believed she had the power to make men’s genitals vanish after a 25-year-old man claimed his had disappeared in a local market. Witnesses say the mob armed themselves with sticks, stones and planks and beat her repeatedly. Police who tried to intervene were also attacked. The victim later died from her injuries and her body was left along the Mwinilunga-Solwezi Road before being taken to Wumi Mini Hospital. Eight suspects, including the man who made the accusation, have been arrested and are assisting police. Authorities have condemned mob justice and warned the public not to take the law into their own hands. This follows a similar case in Chingola, where the accused was cleared after evidence showed no harm was done.
