London Fashion Week SS27: Nigerian Designers and Standout Shows So Far

London Fashion Week SS27 is underway, bringing major debuts, returning labels and fresh talent to the runway. Alexander McQueen returns to London for Sean McGirr’s first presentation as creative director, while Christopher Kane makes his Mulberry debut. Marks & Spencer is also marking 100 years in fashion with a collection available to buy immediately after its show. Nigerian and Nigerian-rooted designers are among the names to watch. Onalaja makes its catwalk debut on September 20, while Tolu Coker, Mowalola and Ahluwalia return with new collections. Mowalola is also set to launch its first collaboration with Jordan Brand during the fashion week schedule. Early highlights include Agro Studio’s “Glass Body”, built around light fabrics, corsetry and antique glass-button details. Maximilian Raynor brought a colourful British-summer mood with gingham, chiffon and checks, while R&M Leathers made an independent runway debut with feminine leather and lace designs. Harris Reed also marked five years at London Fashion Week with a theatrical collection of sculpted silhouettes and corsets.
