Northern Group Demands Action After Reported Killing of 23 Zamfara Farmers

The Coalition of Northern Groups has condemned the reported killing of 23 farmers by suspected bandits in Sauna District, Talata Mafara LGA of Zamfara State. The group said the farmers were attacked while working on their farmlands, calling the incident a stark sign of the insecurity confronting rural communities in northern Nigeria. It warned that continued attacks on farmers could reduce food production, worsen shortages and drive up food prices. The coalition urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify coordinated operations in Zamfara and other banditry-hit states. It also called for sustained protection of farming communities, support for victims’ families, and the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
