Atiku Backs IPMAN Call for Intervention as Petrol Reaches ₦1,350 per Litre

Atiku Abubakar says the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria’s call for government action on petrol prices supports his argument that the Federal Government should intervene to reduce the cost of fuel. IPMAN had urged President Bola Tinubu to engage Dangote Refinery on measures that could lower petrol prices. The appeal followed a fresh increase in pump prices, with petrol selling for about ₦1,310 to ₦1,350 per litre in some areas. Atiku argued that targeted support for domestic refining is different from the former import-based subsidy system. He said such intervention could reduce costs for consumers while supporting local refining. The Tinubu administration maintains that ending petrol subsidies was necessary to stabilise the economy.
