Lawyer Denies Alleged ₦115 Million Fraud, Claims Charges Are Blackmail
I have denied allegations linking me to an alleged ₦115 million fraud involving a stalled property development at Alma Beach, Lagos. I was engaged as counsel to a creditor in a long-running receivership matter and was not the receiver or a party to the joint-venture agreement with the developer. The agreement to complete a five-unit terrace project was terminated in July 2023 after the developer allegedly abandoned the project. Three people later claimed they had paid deposits to the developer for units in the project. I maintain that neither the receiver nor I collected money from them, and that I have no personal connection to the transaction. I claim investigators pressured me to settle with the complainants and filed charges after I refused. I intend to challenge the allegations in court.
