Ekiti Court Remands Father and Son Over Alleged Murder Linked to Land Dispute
An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 70-year-old man, Olabiwonnu Rotimi, and his 34-year-old son, Olabiwonnu Adedoyin, over the alleged murder of Ogunsakin Sunday. Police alleged that the defendants abducted Sunday during a land dispute in Afao-Ekiti on September 14. Prosecutors told the court that he was pulled from a vehicle, sustained injuries and was later confirmed dead at a hospital. The defendants were remanded at the Ado-Ekiti correctional centre pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions. Their pleas were not taken, and the case was adjourned to November 2 for mention.
