My Sister Narrowly Escaped Her Abusive Marriage

My sister wed in 2016 and welcomed her first son in 2017. Over the years, her husband’s beatings escalated. He used cane and wire, even during her pregnancies, leaving her with four children delivered by caesarean section. In December 2024 she underwent surgery for an umbilical hernia caused by repeated domestic violence. He constantly degrades her, accuses her of infidelity and spreads lies to neighbours. Despite family interventions, he refuses to change. My sister, gentle and caring, returned to him each time, hoping he would improve for their children’s sake. I’m desperate to help her break free. We’ve tried mediation with his relatives, but nothing has worked. I’m appealing for advice and support on how to protect her and our family from further harm.
