Unstable Electricity Supply Remained Nigeria Number One Enemy

Unstable Electricity Supply Remained Nigeria Number One Enemy By Pointer Nigeria education programs are underperforming. I am not talking about individual student behavior, students sudden lack of interest in school, truancy, student skipping specific classes or students avoiding eyes contact with their teachers. I am saying that skills acquired by graduates from Nigerian educational system have failed them to achieve their intended goal. Do you know that Nigeria is over 60 years old since it gained independence from the UK, has its citizens with more advance degrees in education than most European countries and does not have a functional electricity supply for homes and businesses throughout the country.? Why am I using lack of electricity to link to Nigeria underperforming education system? Electricity is the foundation of modern civilization and it is acquired from school graduates. Electricity is good for the following reasons: 1. It powers nation economy 2. It drives technological innovation 3. Directly ensures the health and safety of its citizens 4. A robust grid acts as a catalyst for growth, prosperity and high standard of living 5. It powers manufacture lines, it allows large scale agriculture to utilize machinery 6. It attracts foreign investment to ensure business can operate efficiently. So, when Nigerian politicians campaign for votes in election, they often tell their citizens that they will create jobs if elected. You know that is a lie. You can create jobs for one family without steady power supply, but not for over 200 million people. That is because without steady electricity supply in Nigeria, creating enough jobs to meet the demanding population is impossible. Today is not 1500s-- where most things to create jobs were manually made. Today you need electricity to run machineries, to operate machineries, test innovations, invite business owners to come and do business in your country and much more. And who is going to give Nigeria steady power supply? Yes, many countries and business organizations are coming to Nigeria to deceive Nigerian government into getting contract to provide electricity, but what is the results? No country in this world will provide Nigeria electricity. Only Nigerians can do it. And that means we need to re-evaluate our educational programs to identify what works and what does not. However, many reforms have been implemented without adequate foresight—resulting in persistent challenges rather sustainable progress. Few things to fix this--- First, research work in core sciences without sponsorship Second, you need money to fund experts in the field and to train Nigerians Third, make provision for teaching materials Fourth, look at what Nigeria has done in this area over the past 50 years to see what lesson can be learned. Fifth, Federal, state and local governments in Nigeria must stop giving scholarship to Nigerians to study Accounting, finance, economic, marketing, social studies, psychology and instead fund education involving science and technology, period.
