NDLEA Rearrests 83-Year-Old Woman as Major Drug Seizures Hit Several States
The NDLEA says it has rearrested an 83-year-old woman in Obingwa, Abia State, less than a year after her conviction for drug offences. Officers allegedly recovered methamphetamine and Colorado from her and accused her of reopening an illicit drug joint after paying the fine attached to her earlier sentence. The agency also arrested a South African woman at Port Harcourt International Airport with 32.74kg of cannabis allegedly concealed in two travel bags. Other operations at Lagos airports led to the interception of large consignments of Tapentadol tablets and Colorado allegedly shipped from Pakistan and the United Kingdom. Across Cross River, Edo, Ondo, Taraba, Kano, Kaduna, Lagos and Plateau states, the NDLEA reported further arrests and seizures involving cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine and illegal firearms. The agency said it would continue drug enforcement and public sensitisation efforts nationwide.
