Five Killed, 18 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Enugu–Onitsha Expressway

Five people have died and 18 others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash at the Ugwuonyeama axis of the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway on Thursday. The Federal Road Safety Corps said the crash occurred near the LNG Plant at about 3:18 p.m. It involved a Dongfeng trailer, a Mitsubishi L300 commercial bus and a Honda car, with 25 people affected. FRSC officials said the injured were taken to Tex Hospital in 9th Mile Corner for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at a morgue in the area. Traffic was diverted as officials worked to remove the wreckage. Preliminary findings indicate that wrongful overtaking and speeding may have caused the crash.
