Zamfara Dismisses Planning Board Director Over Alleged ₦3.9m Diversion
The Zamfara State Government has dismissed Dalha Umar Gummi, a director at the Zamfara Urban and Regional Planning Board, over the alleged diversion of ₦3.899 million meant for the dependants of late civil servant Isa Aliyu Gummi. An investigation found that ₦9.195 million was released for the family’s entitlements, but only ₦5.295 million initially reached the beneficiaries. The missing funds were subsequently recovered and paid to the family. The government said the dismissal was approved by Governor Dauda Lawal under civil-service rules covering financial misconduct and breach of public trust. It also pledged stronger internal audits to prevent diversion of welfare funds.
