Zamfara Government Urged to Publish Contract and Travel Records Amid Indigene Claims

Zamfara Government Urged to Publish Contract and Travel Records Amid Indigene Claims

I read the response to the viral allegations against the Zamfara State Government with concern. While it dismisses the claims as false, it does not directly address the allegation that major contracts were awarded largely to non-indigenes. I believe the proper response to questions about public spending is verifiable data. The government should publish a full breakdown of domestic and foreign travel expenses since May 2023, including relevant vouchers, estacode rates, flight records and payments. It should also publish contract awards, contractors, project costs, due-process certificates and completion levels. The visible work on roads, hospitals and the airport deserves recognition. However, completed projects do not remove the need for transparency about procurement, pricing and who benefits. Zamfara residents deserve clear information on contracts, donor-funded projects, empowerment programmes and beneficiaries across the LGAs. A public verification session would be welcome if it is open to the media, civil society and independent auditors, with all claims backed by official records. Zamfara people are asking for facts, accountability and honesty.
