Nine Killed in Fresh Attacks Across Plateau Communities

At least nine people were reportedly killed in attacks across Barkin Ladi, Riyom and nearby communities in Plateau State between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The victims included five passengers travelling to Gana-Ropp, two people including a pastor heading to church in Dorowa Babuje, a woman in Baten Wereng, and another resident in Fan District. Residents said gunshots continued around Dorowa Babuje and Kantoma, prompting women and children to move to safer locations. Community leaders called for sustained security deployment, while reports also emerged of cattle being killed or stolen in parts of Barkin Ladi. Governor Caleb Mutfwang said the state government would continue working with security agencies to protect lives and property. He said Plateau State would not be defeated by violence and urged residents to remain united. Separately, miners have returned to the M.I. Wushishi mining site in Minna, Niger State, despite a recent NSCDC operation and reports that 37 detained suspects died after a suspected disease outbreak. Some miners said they had no other reliable source of income and called attention to alleged mistreatment during previous raids.
