Oyetola to Launch PMAWCA Summit in Lagos as NPA Welcomes Regional Port Leaders
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy will officially open the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa board meeting in Lagos from May 18–20, 2026. The Nigerian Ports Authority is hosting this three-day summit, which gathers maritime leaders from across West and Central Africa. Under the theme “Ports of the Future: Combining Logistical Resilience with Inclusive Community Development,” discussions will focus on strengthening infrastructure, building resilient logistics, boosting regional collaboration, and translating port growth into socio-economic benefits for host communities. Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority and first Nigerian president of PMAWCA, says the gathering is a crucial platform for reaffirming the strategic role of ports in driving trade and sustainable development. The summit will cover port security, infrastructure projects, trade connectivity, and emerging strategies for future-ready ports. It also highlights Nigeria’s leadership in the regional maritime sector after successfully hosting last year’s annual council and managing directors’ roundtable.
