Jonathan Mourns Former PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur, Calls His Death a Loss to Nigeria
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has mourned the death of former Peoples Democratic Party national chairman, Bamanga Tukur, describing him as a patriot, elder statesman and committed democrat. In a condolence message, Jonathan said Tukur made notable contributions to Nigeria’s political development, democratic consolidation, business sector and public administration. He said Tukur’s experience, wisdom and counsel would be missed. Tukur died on September 12, 2026, aged 90. He previously served as governor of old Gongola State, Minister of Industries, and chief executive of the Nigerian Ports Authority. He was PDP national chairman from 2012 until his resignation in 2014. Jonathan prayed for Allah’s mercy on the late politician and strength for his family, Adamawa State and the nation.
