Frank Beard: ZZ Top Drummer’s Life, Career and Estimated Net Worth

Frank Beard was an American drummer best known as a longtime member of ZZ Top. Born in Frankston, Texas, in 1949, he played with Dusty Hill in several Dallas-area bands before joining ZZ Top in 1969. Alongside Billy Gibbons and Hill, Beard helped shape ZZ Top’s signature Texas blues-rock sound. The band released its debut album in 1971 and went on to become one of rock music’s most recognisable groups. Despite his surname, Beard was famously the only classic member of the band without a beard for many years. Beard also faced addiction issues during the band’s rise and later sought rehabilitation. Outside music, he competed in endurance sports-car races. He reportedly died in August 2026 at age 77, having stepped back from touring because of ill health. His estimated net worth was about $50 million.
