FCT High Court Dismisses Joel Adoga’s Rights Suit Against ICPC
Joel Adoga’s fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been dismissed by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi. Adoga claimed the Commission infringed his rights by denying him access to family and legal counsel and by coercing statements during investigations. ICPC denied all allegations, stating he was lawfully invited, granted administrative bail, and any continued detention resulted from failure to meet court bail conditions. The court found no merit in Adoga’s claims and held that ICPC acted within legal bounds. He faces a 10-count fraud charge alongside former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai over alleged diversion of state funds and suspicious foreign currency transactions. ICPC reiterates its commitment to due process and protection of constitutional rights while pursuing corruption investigations.
