Acceptance Fee Is Not Enough: How to Secure Your 2026/2027 Admission
If you are funding someone’s admission this year, do not treat the acceptance fee as the final step. It is a separate, one-time payment that confirms a candidate’s intention to take up a school’s offer. School fees, hostel charges and registration fees usually come later with separate deadlines. Most acceptance fees are non-refundable. Candidates holding more than one offer should decide carefully before paying. Paying two schools may mean losing money on the offer they eventually reject. Also, paying on a school portal is different from accepting the admission on JAMB CAPS. Complete both steps: pay through the school’s official portal, then log in to CAPS and accept the offer. Failure to accept on CAPS can create admission and NYSC mobilisation problems later. Be alert for fraudsters. Use only the school’s official portal and approved payment gateway. Do not transfer acceptance fees to a personal account or rely on agents who promise faster processing. Confirm the deadline directly on the school portal, and keep all payment receipts and screenshots of the CAPS acceptance for clearance.
