Fifteen members of the Nigerian House of Representatives have officially defected from their former parties. Seven lawmakers left the Labour Party (LP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). They include Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo (Idemili North/South), Hon. Seyi Sowunmi (Ojo), Hon. Jesse Okey-Joe Onuakalusi (Oshodi-Isolo II), Hon. Murphy Osaro Omaruyi (Egor/Ikpoba-Okha), Hon. Victor Afamefuna Osigwe (Ogbaru), Hon. Peter Udogalanya Aniekwe (Anambra East/West), and Hon. Oby Lilian Orogbu (Awka North/South). Eight lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have also crossed to the All Progressives Congress (APC). They include Hon. Midala Usman Belami (Askira-Uba/Hawul), Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori (Demsa/Numan/Lamurde), Hon. Mohammed Inuwa Bassi (Mayo Belwa/Ganye/Jada/Toungo), Hon. Jaafaru Chiroma Yakubu (Bali/Gassol), Hon. Sadiq Bass Tafida (Jalingo/Yorro/Thing), Hon. This wave of defections reshapes the balance of power in the House as more members align with the ADC and APC ahead of future legislative sessions.
