Crude Nears $96 as US-Iran Tensions Push Petrol Prices Higher in Abuja
Global oil prices rose after fresh US military strikes on Iranian targets heightened concerns about supply routes in the Middle East. Brent crude climbed to $95.49 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate reached $90.71 per barrel. The escalation followed reported attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and increased concern over disruptions to maritime oil supplies. The US also reportedly intensified its tanker interdiction strategy in the Gulf. In Nigeria, petrol prices reportedly rose across Abuja and nearby areas. Pump prices moved to between ₦1,310 and ₦1,345 per litre at several major outlets after an increase in the ex-gantry price at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
