FG Considers High-Tech Tollgates to Help Tackle Highway Crime

The federal government is considering bringing back tollgates equipped with surveillance technology to help combat kidnapping, banditry and other crimes on Nigeria’s highways. Defence Minister Christopher Musa said the tollgates could also identify and track vehicles, with electronic payments allowing motorists to pass without stopping for manual transactions. He said Nigeria may have made a mistake by dismantling the tollgates.
