Seven Killed, 11 Injured as Trailer Loses Brakes on Gombe-Billiri Road

Seven people have died and 11 others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash at Tashan Magariya Junction in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State. The Federal Road Safety Corps said the crash happened on Thursday evening when a trailer travelling from Gombe to Yola reportedly lost its brakes. The vehicle collided with two cars and five motorcycles. Twenty-five people were involved, including adults and children. The injured were taken to public hospitals in Kumo for treatment, while the bodies of those who died were deposited in mortuaries. The FRSC urged motorists to inspect their vehicles, obey speed limits and avoid roadside parking, especially around busy markets. It also called for safer pedestrian crossings and designated parking areas for motorcycle operators.
