NSCDC Finds Tunnels in Fortified Suspected Drug Hideout in Asaba
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it uncovered underground tunnels in a fortified building suspected to be used for drug sales in Asaba, Delta State. Operatives reportedly spent three days trying to enter the property before gaining access through the roof. According to the command, officers found several reinforced iron doors and passages allegedly used by suspects to escape during raids. Substances locally known as “Loud” and “Ice”, PVC gum and other materials were reportedly recovered. One man was arrested after allegedly arriving to buy drugs during the operation. The NSCDC is investigating the building’s ownership, the purpose of the tunnels and whether the premises were linked to other crimes, including kidnapping. It also says a notebook found at the scene contained unverified entries suggesting payments to security personnel. No such link has been established, and investigations are ongoing.
