Immigration Officer Dies After Rifle Accidentally Discharges in Abuja

Joseph Ali, an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, has reportedly died after a locally fabricated rifle accidentally discharged at his residence in Abuja. The incident reportedly occurred around 7:30 a.m. at Compensation Layout in Old Kutunku as he was preparing to leave for work. Ali was said to be attempting to store the rifle, which he used for community security, when it discharged and struck his left eye. He was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. His remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
