Anambra Government Promises Justice for 10-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Assaulted by Aunt

The Anambra State Government has condemned the alleged assault of a 10-year-old girl by her aunt in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area. The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare said the girl was allegedly flogged and seriously injured after she reportedly refused to sweep the house. The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody. The government said no household chore can justify harming a child and promised that anyone found responsible would face the law. It also said protective measures would be taken for the child and urged residents to report suspected child abuse or neglect.
