Enugu Approves ₦32bn to Clear Retirees’ Outstanding Gratuities
The Enugu State Government has approved about ₦32 billion to settle verified outstanding gratuities owed to retired state workers. The first tranche of ₦10 billion is expected to be released next week. The government said the liabilities date back to 2000 and were confirmed after a verification exercise covering 66,783 records across workforce, pension and gratuity categories. Retirees with concerns about their verification results can submit them for further review. Officials said further payments will continue until the verified state-level liability is cleared. The government is also reviewing more than ₦10 billion in outstanding gratuities owed to local government retirees.
