Osun Police Declare Factional NURTW Chairman Wanted Over Ile-Ife Killing
The Osun State Police Command has declared factional NURTW chairman Nurudeen Alowonle wanted over the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir, at a motor park in Ile-Ife. Police said six suspects, including Alowonle’s personal assistant and an Amotekun operative, have been arrested in connection with the September 13 incident. The command also said it was searching for another NURTW official, Ojo Adeyemi, known as Sibi, and other suspects. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura said statements obtained during the investigation allegedly linked Alowonle and Adeyemi to the mobilisation of those involved. Police also alleged that a suspect found with a shortened firearm said the weapon was supplied by Alowonle. In a separate case, police arrested a suspect after a clash over a cocoa farm reportedly left four people dead in Alapa village, Ile-Ife. Officers recovered locally made guns, cartridges and other items as investigations continue.
