Oyo Families Reject FG Rice and Cash, Insist on Release of Kidnapped Schoolchildren
The Baale of Yawota Community in Oriire LGA, Oyo State, says families of abducted pupils and teachers turned down rice and money from federal government delegates. They insisted their only priority is the safe return of their loved ones. He explained that on May 16 gunmen attacked the Ahoro-Esiele/Yawota axis of Ogbomoso, abducting students and staff from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School while firing indiscriminately. The traditional ruler praised the swift response by the Nigeria Police Force, which arrived shortly after the assailants fled. He noted that a delegation sent by the state governor also brought rice and cash but was met with the same refusal. Residents are calling on security agencies and government authorities to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and prevent future attacks on schools and communities.
