Army Rescues Retired General’s Wife, Arrests Two Suspected Kidnappers in Abuja
The Nigerian Army has rescued Mrs. Adonkie, wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, after she was abducted from her home in the Federal Capital Territory on September 1. Troops from the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison reportedly tracked the abductors through the Aco Estate and Goza Community axis. The suspects allegedly abandoned the victim at Angwan Sabo Village after troops closed in on them. In a follow-up operation near Gaube Village in Kuje Area Council, soldiers arrested two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate. An AK-47 rifle, a magazine and 19 rounds of ammunition were recovered. The Army said operations to arrest other suspects are continuing.
