Bauchi Police Arrest Suspected Fake Okada Rider Linked to Attacks on 35 Women
Police in Bauchi have arrested a 53-year-old man accused of posing as a commercial motorcycle rider to target female passengers in the Bauchi metropolis. The suspect was arrested during a patrol on Adamu Jumba Road on September 11. Police said he was riding a Bajaj motorcycle and had a face mask, face cap and a sharp knife in his possession. Investigators allege that he used the disguise to lure passengers, rob them and, in some cases, abduct and sexually assault them. Police said the number of women linked to the alleged offences rose from 15 to 35 as investigations continued. A search of his residence reportedly led to the recovery of mobile phones, women’s clothing and accessories, cash, foreign currency and other items suspected to be proceeds of crime. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
