Timi Frank Seeks International Support Over Alleged Threats to Atiku Ahead of 2027

Timi Frank has appealed to US President Donald Trump and other international partners to press for the safety and political freedom of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 elections. In an open letter, Frank alleged that Atiku could face intimidation, arrest or prolonged detention aimed at limiting his participation in the electoral process. He called for an independent investigation into the claims and for due process in any investigation involving opposition figures. He also urged INEC, security agencies and the judiciary to demonstrate impartiality. Frank said credible election observation and early diplomatic engagement could help address concerns about political violence, intimidation and restrictions on opposition campaigns.
