Edo Police Foil Kidnap on Benin–Abraka Road, Rescue Passengers Safely

Officers from the Edo State Police Command received a tip that armed kidnappers blocked a section of the Benin–Abraka Road near the NNPC pipeline on June 21. The suspects fired on a commercial bus from Abraka to Benin City and forced it to stop. Ugo Division operatives responded immediately and exchanged gunfire, prompting the attackers to flee into nearby bush. All passengers were rescued. One man sustained a minor pellet injury to his right toe and was treated and discharged at Ugo Health Centre. Reinforcements have been deployed to track the suspects. The Commissioner of Police commends the swift action of his officers and urges residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.
