Nurse Recounts How Anambra Managed 13-Month Doctors’ Strike Under Peter Obi

A nurse who was a student in Anambra during Peter Obi’s tenure has recalled the doctors’ strike that reportedly lasted 13 months. According to the account, the dispute followed the introduction of the CONMESS and CONHESS salary structures. The state government reportedly offered to implement 60% of the agreement, while doctors demanded full implementation. The nurse said the administration had strengthened mission schools, hospitals, medical facilities and dental services. She claimed these facilities helped maintain access to healthcare during the strike, with no reports of mass casualties.
