Edo Police Rescue 70-Year-Old Farmer, Foil ₦30m Ransom Demand
Security forces in Edo State have freed a 70-year-old farmer from kidnappers in Uromi. His wife reported him missing after he failed to return from his farm, and the family later received a ₦30 million ransom demand. A joint team of police, military personnel, local hunters and state security agents traced his abandoned motorcycle and belongings along a forest trail. They located the kidnappers’ hideout, forcing the suspects to flee and leaving the victim unharmed. The rescued farmer has been reunited with his family. Authorities are continuing intensive bush combing and a manhunt for the fleeing suspects. The Police Commissioner reaffirms the command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and urges residents to share timely and credible information.
