Atiku Faults Tinubu Over Claims That Opposition Caused Hunger and Poverty
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu for blaming opposition politicians for hunger and poverty in Nigeria. He said the Federal Government must take responsibility for the country’s economic hardship. Atiku, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, was responding to Tinubu’s remarks at an APC campaign event in Kaduna. He argued that the APC has governed Nigeria for more than 11 years and cannot shift responsibility for current conditions to the opposition. He cited the removal of petrol subsidy, the naira’s depreciation and rising living costs as key concerns. Atiku also questioned the extension of the 2024 budget, energy-security spending and NNPC pipeline-related expenditure, while calling for clearer explanations from the administration.
