Abia Sets ₦200m Billboard Fee for Presidential Candidates, ₦150m for Governorship Hopefuls
The Abia State Signage and Advertising Agency has announced fees for political candidates seeking to display campaign banners, billboards and signposts ahead of the 2027 elections. Under the new rates, presidential candidates will pay ₦200 million, governorship candidates ₦150 million, senatorial candidates ₦100 million, House of Representatives candidates ₦50 million, and State House of Assembly candidates ₦20 million. The agency said the payments cover the campaign and election periods. The policy was announced at the agency's 2026 stakeholders' engagement forum in Aba. It said campaign materials that fail to meet approval standards or threaten public safety and peace could be removed. The Abia ADC chairman rejected the charges, arguing that they conflict with electoral campaign-spending limits and fair play.
