Questions Raised Over Abia’s ₦2.5 Billion Star Paper Mill Acquisition
I am concerned that Abia State reportedly spent ₦2.5 billion to acquire the long-defunct Star Paper Mill and its Owerrinta extension, yet the facilities are still not operational. The acquisition was expected to support industrial revival and local manufacturing. Residents of Aba are also worried about the condition of the Osisioma Industrial Layout. Many factories remain inactive, while young people continue to struggle with unemployment. I believe the government should provide clear updates on the Star Paper Mill project, plans for reviving other industries, and the timelines for promised infrastructure projects. Abians deserve transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
