Turaki Faction Urges Tinubu to De-escalate Political Tensions After PDP Convention Disruption

The Turaki faction leadership within the Peoples Democratic Party has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to help ease rising political tensions in the country. They made the call after police officers disrupted their convention at the A-Class Event Centre in Abuja. The event was meant to ratify former president Goodluck Jonathan as the PDP’s 2027 presidential candidate. A brief ceremony later cleared Jonathan to run, and his certificate was presented to Fred Agbedi on his behalf. Other dignitaries at the gathering included Prof. Jerry Gana, Tanimu Turaki, Adolphus Wabara and several party loyalists.

Do you think Tinubu's intervention can really calm tensions after that police disruption at the PDP convention in Abuja?

Calling on Tinubu feels like shifting blame instead of holding those police officers accountable for disrupting a lawful party event.

The party could propose a joint security audit and clear guidelines for future events before seeking presidential involvement to avoid further clashes.
