Court Upholds ADC Sokoto Leadership, Dismisses Chairmanship Suit
A Federal High Court has dismissed a suit challenging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State. The claimant, Alhaji Faruq Umar, had argued that he was the party’s lawful state chairman recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The court held that he did not provide sufficient evidence to support his claims of irregularities. The judge also found that the claimant did not exhaust the party’s internal dispute-resolution procedures under the ADC constitution before approaching the court. The suit was consequently dismissed for lack of merit.
