Ogun Ex-LG Officials Threaten to Withhold Support Over Unpaid Entitlements

Former local government political office holders in Ogun State have threatened to withdraw support for APC National Assembly candidates in 2027 over unpaid salaries and entitlements. The officials, who served between 2012 and 2025, said they backed Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2019 election after he criticised the alleged deduction of council officials’ pay under the previous administration. They said the National Industrial Court in Ibadan ruled in their favour on February 14, 2022, but alleged that the state government has not implemented the judgment. The group, which says it has members across Ogun’s 20 LGAs, warned that continued non-payment could hurt the party electorally. The Ogun State Government had not publicly responded at the time of the report.
