Operation HADIN KAI Troops Thwart ISWAP Assault in Borno, Neutralise Scores of Insurgents
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI repelled a coordinated ISWAP attack on their Forward Operating Base at Mandaragirau in Borno State. They met the assault with a swift ground response backed by air support. Air assets provided real-time intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and precise strikes. Officials say at least 38 insurgents were neutralised, with eight bodies recovered near the base. Follow-up operations along the Garin Mallum–Garin Gajere corridor uncovered more than 30 additional bodies. Troops also found abandoned weapons, blood trails and other enemy equipment. There were no military fatalities, though one MRAP vehicle was hit by an RPG and several soldiers were injured. All wounded personnel have since been stabilised, and nearby communities celebrated the successful defence.
