40MW Victoria Island Power Plant Targets December 2026 Start

Elektron Energy says its 40MW Victoria Island Power plant in Lagos is nearing commercial operation and is expected to begin supplying electricity in December 2026. Developed with Eko Power Ltd., the embedded gas-fired plant is intended to provide dedicated electricity to businesses in the Victoria Island commercial district. Banks, corporate headquarters, hotels and other establishments in the area often rely on backup generators because of unstable grid supply. The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission recently inspected the facility after issuing Elektron Energy a generation licence. The company says the project is being built to improve reliability, reduce dependence on generators and support Lagos’ expanding private electricity market.
